The Threshold of Grace

Sep 29, 2025

This morning I’m sitting with Jesus’ words in Matthew 11:11, and they stir something deep in me. He says that among those born of women, no one is greater than John the Baptist—yet even the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. That’s not a dismissal of John’s role; it’s a revelation of the shift that Christ Himself ushered in.
John stood at the threshold—greater than all the prophets before him because he didn’t just speak of the coming Messiah; he saw Him, touched Him, pointed directly to Him. That’s staggering. The prophets longed for what John witnessed. But even so, John didn’t live on the other side of the resurrection. He didn’t carry the indwelling Christ. He could say, “Behold the Lamb of God,” but he couldn’t say, “Christ lives in me.”
And I can.
That humbles me. It also awakens me. My greatness isn’t measured by my role, my gifts, or my ministry—it’s measured by my nearness to Christ. The closer I am to Him, the more I reflect His glory. That’s the true measure. And because Christ is not just beside me but within me, I’m invited into a union that even John didn’t know. One spirit with the Lord (1 Cor. 6:17)—what could be more intimate than that?
This isn’t about pride. It’s about awe. I live in a time where the veil is torn, the Spirit is given, and Christ dwells in me. That makes me greater—not in status, but in access. In communion. In grace.
What a blessing. What a responsibility. What a joy.
