When the Storm Speaks
Morning Watch: 6.13.25 - 4:00 am
Psalm 29:7–8, 11
As I sit here in the quiet of my office, the rain trickles steadily against the window. A flash of lightning fractures the sky, followed by the low groan of thunder. It's beautiful, but also unsettling. And it reminds me that even creation trembles at the voice of the Lord. Sometimes, healing feels like this weather—unpredictable, stormy, charged with emotion.
But the same God who commands the lightning also speaks peace into our chaos. The rain does not fall in vain; it softens the soil. It prepares the earth for new growth. For those of us walking through the aftermath of trauma, the storm outside can reflect the storm within.
But listen closely: the voice of the Lord is not only in the thunder. It is also in the hush that follows. It’s in the rain that renews. His strength comes not to overwhelm, but to restore. Today’s Reflection: Where are the “storms” in your life that God might be using to soften the ground of your soul for new beginnings?
Prayer: Abba, in the storm, let me hear Your voice. In the rain, let me feel Your mercy. Give me strength when I tremble, and peace when I fear. Thank You for being the God who speaks through every season.
